Cardano was founded by Charles Hoskinson, the co-founder of Ethereum. Development of the blockchain platform began in 2015 and was launched in 2017.

Cardano has a supply cap of 45 billion ADA. There are currently 32 billion ADA in circulation. ADA is the native token used on the Cardano network. 

Cardano is named after an Italian Renaissance mathematician, Gerolamo Cardano, and its native token ADA is named after Ada Lovelace, a 19th-century English mathematician sometimes credited as the first computer programmer.

Cardano (CRYPTO: ADA) price retreated for the fourth consecutive weeks and reached a record low, continuing a downward spiral that started in September 2021 when it peaked at $3.08. It dropped to $0.1608, with its market capitalization falling from a record high of $91 billion to $5.8 billion today.
