Amkor Technology (AMKR) Analyst Ratings
Bulls say
Amkor Technology is supported by improving mix and strategic positioning in advanced packaging, with 3Q26 revenue of $1.99B and gross margin of 18.3% benefiting from Computing and Automotive strength. Although smartphone and consumer weakness pressured Communications, management sees data center CPU, XPU, and networking demand remaining strong, while Automotive/Industrial is setting records on ADAS and industrial computing. Its U.S.-headquartered, full-flow 2.5D capability and expanding Arizona, Korea, and Vietnam capacity, partly funded by customer prepayments, should help it gain share and participate in a cyclical recovery.
Bears say
Amkor Technology is facing a weaker fundamental setup because 3Q26 results and the 4Q26 guide both came in below consensus, with sales of $1,990.6M and EPS of $0.76 slightly short, while 4Q26 midpoint sales of $1,950.0M and EPS of $0.70 also trailed expectations. Although Compute is growing, the upside is being offset by Comms weakness from the SiP move to Vietnam, FX headwinds, and lower-than-expected gross margin of 18.3%, which remains pressured by high fixed costs and ramp-up dilution. The company’s heavy international exposure, customer concentration with top ten sales near 66%, and the expectation that CY26-28 EPS stays 12% to 11% below consensus support a cautious outlook despite improving utilization and liquidity of about $3.4B.
